THE ARTIST

Asha Basha Duniani is an interdisciplinary artist.

Her works combine observations of live Theatre, mainstream media, and fine art to address safety in the ordinary Black experience. Through paintings and performance art, Asha confronts the behavioral expectation of 'Black resilience' and highlights 'Black humanity'.

Having received her Bachelor's in Professional Theatre, drawing was only a pastime for the margins of her notebooks. But, after graduating during the global pandemic, the canvas became her stage. And the brush, the words she uses to communicate to her audiences.

As a self taught visual artist, Asha's paintings are boundless. Her creative freedom and versatility allow her to analyze the world through a multitude of lenses.

Asha is eager to learn new ways to translate her understandings to the canvas. Art is the way she communicates to the world, in hopes that one day, it will speak back.
